The jury's motivation for the choice:

"Elsebeth Norrie unites a finely sensed impression of a typical Nivå landscape

with a tight, minimalist form. The shallow marshes, the high spring sky,

the poplar row with its bare branches and its huge shadow

is very close to an abstract surface composition.

At the same time the image's strong diagonals in the shape of the poplar avenue

and the sky's condensation trails contribute to emphasize the subject's monumentality

This creates an interesting contrast to the meticulous, almost surreal elaboration

of the details obtained by Elsebeth Norrie's unique use of watercolor. "
